Maybe it's Maybelline!

Hello all!
Mascara is a must have item in my makeup bag. I love how it makes my eyes pop, such a small amount makes a big difference. I've gone through many over the years and currently my favourite is Maybelline. So, I'm going to share with you the two that I've fallen in love with and one that I've just started using.

Colossal Volum' Express
This was the first Maybelline mascara I bought and by far my favourite out of the three. I love that it's waterproof that's a must in whatever mascara I buy, you never know what you might come across during the day. I also love the size and shape of the brush, I found it very easy to use against my eyelashes. I've purchased this mascara twice and I will most definitely buy it again. I have semi-long lashes anyway and this mascara accentuates them as well as making them look fuller. After a while it does get a bit clumpy but it's usually around the time you're supposed to change it anway so it's understandable.

Colossal Volum' Express Cat Eyes
My second Maybelline mascara and another favourite. For me, it does what it says on the tin, it gives my eyelashes a cat-like look, while making my lashes look longer. The shape of the wand helps enormously with this and again is very easy to use. Unfortunately, it isn't waterproof but while using it I didn't have any problems with it running. And a plus to that it was very easy to remove.

The Falsies Volum' Express
This is the mascara I'm currently using and I haven't used it that long so this is a two week review. Firstly, it's waterproof which is great. However, I'm not a fan of the shape of the wand, it is similar to that of the cat eyes mascara but it's a lot thicker (that's not shown well in the photo, apologies). Again, I have just started using it but I find it very awkward to use. Maybe with time I'll be able to perfect it and I'll try to update this.

What is your favourite mascara and is there any you think I should try? Let me know! xo

New York Color & Flushed by Sleek

Hey guys :)

So I bought a few things recently that I wanted to show you. They're nothing special but I just wanted to share them with you.

I'm sure you've all heard of BritPopPrincess aka Patricia the YouTube guru. Well, on her recent makeup tutorial she used a blush by Sleek called Flushed. When I saw it on her I fell in love. It's a lovely matte red and compliments her skin tone very well, which is what made me want to buy it because we're a similar skin tone.

Also, my sister bought a couple of nail polishes by NYC a few weeks ago and I loved them, so I decided to buy my own. They have so many colours and for a very decent price. As shown in my recent NOTD I've developed a love for pastel colours which persuaded me to choose these colours.

Lincoln Square Lavender & Prospect Park Pink - £1.79 each
Flushed by Sleek - £4.49

Also, the UK is finally enjoying some lovely weather! It's sunny and hot so hopefully I'll have some OOTD's to show you :) xo

The Olympic Torch in Hackney!

Greetings :)
This is a quick post to let you know that my sisters and I were lucky enough to see the Olympic Torch relay go through Hackney yesterday (21/07/2012). It was a really surreal experience, definitely a once in a lifetime one. The last time the Olympics was in London was more than 70 years ago!
There was a point where I was literally running next to the man hoding the Torch. I tried to take a picture, but that didn't work out...

This was the only decent picture I took, but honestly I was just really happy to be there.

Unfortunately none of us have tickets, but one of my sisters was lucky enough to win a raffle and was given a ticket to see the opening ceremony on friday (27/07/2012). We'll all be there with her in spirit!

Like I said this is a quick post, so hope you're all enjoying your weekend! xo

Recipe: Fairy Cupcakes

Hey guys! Here's a little fact about me...

I love to bake!

This may be new information to my followers/readers but if you were to ask my family and friends they'd tell you how much I love baking. It comes so naturally to me. I bake all the time; I've baked for friends in the past, for birthdays for my family and sometimes when I'm bored!

So I thought I'd share with you what I baked today. They're just simple cupcakes with a hint of lemon. I don't know any recipes passed down from family generations, I get all mine from cook books, the internet or in this case on the back of the caster sugar packet :) I tweeked the recipe a little bit (I'll put what the actual recipe said in red). Also, it says it makes 12 but I managed to get 19!

Makes 12

Ingredients:
150g soften butter
150g caster sugar
(3) 2 eggs
150g self-raising flour
1 tbsp vanilla extract
(2) 1 tbsp milk
Juice of half a lemon

For the icing:
(125g) 120g icing sugar
Warm water
Lemon juice

Method:
  1. Preheat the oven to 180c/Fan 160c/Gas mark 4. Line a cup cake tin with cup cake cases.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy and pale.
  3. Beat the eggs together with a fork then gradually add to the mixture, beating really well until the mixture is combined.
  4. Fold in the flour, milk and vanilla extract using a large metal spoon. Do this as lightly as possible to keep all air in your mixture.
  5. Spoon the mixture into the cases and bake for 20 minutes or until risen and springy.
  6. For the icing sift the icing sugar into a bowl and gradually add 1 tbsp of water until the icing is thick enough (I only put 1 tbsp of lemon juice).
  7. Spoon the icing onto the cooled cakes and decorate as desired.
I hope this recipe is as good to you as it was to me. They taste amazing and are so easy to make, hope you enjoy them!

If you try them let me know. Or if you know of any other recipes you think I should try, then let me know about them too! xo

NOTD | Berry Ice Cream

Hello dear readers!

It was my mum's birthday on friday so my sister and I took her to get her nails done. It was mine and my mum's first time getting a pedicure and my first time in about 3 years getting a manicure.
We had a really lovely time and it was a really relaxing experience. I'm definitely gonna treat myself to mani/pedi's more often :)

I chose a colour that I had used before and really liked so I brought it in and asked them to use that. It's by Barry M and it's called Berry Ice Cream.

Previously, I wasn't quite sure if pastel colours looked nice on me but I've been experiementing recently and I've found that they actually do! Good times :)

Beauty Basics | New In

Hello fellow bloggers!

Happy July! I'd say hope you're enjoying the lovely sunny weather but that would be far from the truth. As per usual the weather in Britain is windy and wet *Booooo* :( Hopefully the weather picks up so I can experiment with outfits and show you guys ^_^

Anyhoo, recently I stepped out to pick up one thing from Boots and I ended up buying all this from Boots and Superdrug.... They are both having some really good deals at the moment; 3 for 2, money off, buy one get one free (BOGOF) and all that good stuff! So all of these products were bought at discounted price (yay!)

My current shower gel is almost done which explains the Radox shower smoothies. They were a very decent price and they smell amazing.

The St. Ives facial scrubs were an impulse buy, I saw them near the counter with a BOGOF and thought why not? I haven't tried them yet because my Simple facial wash shown in my previous beauty basics post (here) is not finished yet. (The facial wash lasts a long time and does a great job so I will be buying it again as it's currently £2 in Superdrug!)
The green one is for all skin types and the orange one is for oily/blemish prone skin - which I believe I have.
I might do a review on it for you guys...

The Bio-Oil was an impulse buy as well (I really need to control my impulses... lol) It was half price in Superdrug and I have a couple of patches/scars that I want to smooth over so, yeah :) I could do a review on it if you guys want, but they say you have to use it for at least 3 months

And finally Carmex. My cherry one in the tub is finished so I thought I'd switch it up and get the strawberry one in a tube :) It does wonders for my lips and it has SPF15 which is a plus. And it smells lovely!

Has anyone tried any of these products? What are your current faves?
